Batavia is a city in DuPage and Kane counties in Illinois. It is a suburb west of Chicago and is the oldest city in Kane County. According to the 2010 census Batavia had a population of 26,045 people. In the later part of the 19th century, Batavia was home to six American style windmill manufacturing companies and it became known as "The Windmill City".
